BUILT-IN WORKSHEET & 95LX CLOSES A DEAL
I used the 95LX to help me buy my wife a new car. Before I went to the dealership, I logged on to CompuServe and downloaded Consumer Reports (GO CONSUME) reviews of cars I was interested in, and stored them in the 95LX.
At the dealership, I used the built-in _CARLOAN.WK1 worksheet (on English 95LX only) to figure out our monthly payments using different interest rates and down payments. It was very accurate. It came out to the penny to the quote the dealers computer came up with. He was very surprised that my "calculator" could be so accurate, and I explained it was a computer, not just a calculator.
In the heat of negotiations, when I mentioned that I was going to buy a competitive car unless he brought his price down, the salesperson started to say bad things about the competitive vehicle. So I brought out the 95LX and showed him the Consumer Reports article praising the competitive vehicle.
I can report that I ended up getting a great price on the car, thanks in part to the power of portable information and the 95LX.
