HOW TO SPLIT A PHONE FILE
The largest Phone Book file you can have is 47K. Depending on how much information you have on each entry, this translates to about 400-600 names. To increase capacity, some users keep two .PBK files, one for A-M and another for N-Z names. If you want to do this you'll need to split your existing Phone Book.
Make two copies of your original PBK file by going to FILER, highlighting the PBK file, pressing (F2) (Copy), giving the file a new name, and pressing (ENTER) (do this two times). Now you've got three identical Phone Book files (say, PHONE.PBK, PHONE1.PBK and PHONE2.PBK).
Now open PHONE2.PBK within the PHONE application by pressing (MENU) File Open, selecting the file and pressing (ENTER). Then use (F3) (Cut) to delete half of the entries out (i.e. A-M) and save it. Next, open PHONE1.PBK and delete the other half of the entries (i.e. NZ).
You should now have 3 files PHONE.PBK -- your original complete phone book, PHONE1.PBK -- your A-M's, and PHONE2.PBK -- your N-Z's.
