Contents i) Introduction Restrictions, problems, and workarounds Getting Started corrections Notices Introduction Welcome to IBM(R) DB2 Universal Database(TM) Data Warehouse Enterprise Edition, Version 8.1.2 and IBM DB2 Universal Database Data Warehouse Standard Edition, Version 8.1.2. This document provides updates and corrections to the DB2 Data Warehouse Edition Getting Started. You should read the appropriate sections of the Read Me First before you use the Getting Started book and install the products. After you read this document, you should read the Getting Started document. The Getting Started book provides an overview of the installation process for either the DB2 Data Warehouse Enterprise Edition or the DB2 Data Warehouse Standard Edition. The DB2 Data Warehouse Edition Getting Started is available in both PDF (portable document format) or HTML (hypertext markup language) in different languages. Note: For the latest version of this Readme, see the DWE web site at: http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/db2/udb/dwe/features.html Restrictions, problems, and workarounds This section describes restrictions and possible problems that you might encounter when you install the products in the DB2 Data Warehouse Enterprise Edition or the DB2 Data Warehouse Standard Edition. * The Windows 2000 environment requires Service Pack 2 or greater. * The DWE installation assumes that the CD drive(s) are already defined as file systems on UNIX platforms. No arguments are used with the mount command except for the directory name to mount. For example, on Linux, the following command should work successfully: mount /mnt/cdrom * On Linux, a CD can not be mounted in the drive prior to starting the DWE installation. If a CD is mounted when the DWE installation is launched, you cannot unmount the CD without first quitting the DWE installation. If the DWE installation is on a CD, the entire contents must be copied to a hard drive location, and the installation program launched from there. * On AIX and Solaris, if you receive the following error message during the installation process: The extract of the install program failed. Return to the DWE install program after verifying that you have enough disk space available. Click OK to open another window where you can enter a new location for the temp directory. Click Cancel to exit the DWE installation. Getting Started corrections The following correction is necessary to the Getting Started document: * In Figure 7, the second option that begins with the words Data Warehouses on Linux and Solaris only appears during Windows and AIX installations under the following conditions: you must have chosen to install the Client piece of the DB2 UDB Data Warehouse Enterprise Edition, and DB2 is not installed.
